Web
Site Optimization Tips
The homepage of your site should be clear and easy to understand.
Try
to
avoid frames on your homepage. (Some engines don't react well
to
frames)
Title
The Title of your page is one of the most important criteria looked
at.
Relevant keywords in the title are crucial. Get 2 or 3 major keywords
in
your title while keeping it interesting, this alone will increase
your
chances of getting on top of a search results.
More than 2 or 3 will push you further down on a search results.
Less
keywords are better because the more power or density those keywords
become.
Keyword Density
The homepage of your web site is very important. It is where people
decide
to stay and see what you have to say or leave. You don't want
too many
graphics on your first page because it will download slowly, leading
to
visitors to leave. You should have some graphics that appeal to
the eye
but
keep it to a minimum. Have around 2 or 3 different colors in the
text
and
section off paragraphs and different topics with dividers so it
doesn't
seem
all bunched up. An acceptable download time is around 20 seconds.
Basically
keep the homepage short and sweet so people can view your page
quickly,
get
an idea of what your page is about. Try to avoid frames on your
homepage.
Remember: Not everyone has fast modems and good browsers, so consider
others
when designing your site.
Domain Name
The domain name is a great way to get your site good placement
in
Yahoo!
Don't Keyword Spam
Do not keyword spam. You've probably seen it many times at the
bottom
of web
sites; web designers write keywords many times over and over at
the
bottom
to get higher placement. Don't keyword spam in the META tags,
or
anywhere
for that matter.
All major engines will penalize your site's placement if you keyword
spam.
Get Your Site Web Listings Multiple Times on Most Engines.
To get your site listed multiple times - Individually register
every
page in
your site as a separate site search engines will list it multiple
times.
Example:
www.yourdomain.com <--register as main page in site.
www.yourdomain.com/subpage 1<--register as separate site.
www.yourdomain.com/subpage 2<--register as separate site and
so on.
Make sure and have these sub-pages link to your main page so people
can
view
your main page.

Track Your Results & Re-Submit
Track Your Results
You can keep track of your submissions here, but the best way
to keep
track
of submission is by visiting each major engine and using finding
out
how
they allow you to verify your listing. For example, Lycos has
an actual
verifier to find if your site is listed, while AltaVista requires
you
type
in 'url:http://www.yourname.com' in a search.
Re-Submit
You will want to resubmit if you have difficulty finding your
site in
any
major engines (engines have been known to drop sites for no apparent
reason,
that's why we provide unlimited resubmissions for life). But be
patient,
don't resubmit if you can't find your site within a day after
submitting,
this could get your site banned from a search engine.
After you get a better feel for your web site's keywords and title
(which
contains keywords), you will want to resubmit to improve placement
under
better targeted keywords that you may have not known about before.

Service Features and Benefits
Power Tools. HTML Toolbox comes with these five key tools:
Link Check - Over 5% of links on the Web are broken! Our Link
Check
tool
will search your site, testing each link it finds. We'll report
the
status
of each link we tested. Broken links hurt your professional image
and
act as
roadblocks to search engine spiders.
HTML Check and Repair - Bad tag usage, html code syntax errors,
and
spelling
typos can make it difficult for browsers to process your HTML
and
visitors
to read your site. Our HTML validator robot finds bad HTML tags
in your
pages. Plus, we'll automatically generate a repaired page to upload
to
your
site.
Browser Compatibility - All browsers are different. If your HTML
is not
supported by certain browsers, users of those browsers will have
difficulty
viewing your site. We'll scan your site and report on HTML tags
and
attributes that aren't supported by different versions of the
major
browsers.
Load Time Check - Slow load times can deter users from viewing
your
site.
Our robot will check the download time for your Web pages. We'll
report
the
size of each object in your pages. We will also spot HTML problems
(e.g.
number of server connections, graphics, etc.) that can delay page
loading.
Spell Check - Our automated tool will check the text on your pages
for
spelling errors. Use an optional Custom Dictionary to list words
you
want
our spell checker to ignore.
Repairs HTML errors. HTML Toolbox spots common HTML code errors,
fixes
most
errors it finds on your request, and generates a repaired file
for you
to
upload. If we can't fix your problem, we will identify those problems
for
you.
Improve Your Site For Search Engine and Human Visitors. HTML Toolbox
ensures
both human and search engine spiders have a positive experience
on your
site. Broken links and code errors can keep a spider from crawling
your
site
and can make a human visitor put away their credit card. Professional
search
engine optimizers validate their code and links before submitting
a
page to
a search engine.
No downloads or software to install. Our software works directly
from
our
site. No need to install anything on your computer.
Automatic testing. Schedule weekly, biweekly or monthly tests
of your
site.
We'll notify you by email when your results are ready. Popular Keywords
We use various keyword research tools to find out which keywords
are
popular
among Internet users. We select keywords based on their popularity
without
regard to their competitiveness. We base the popularity on statistics
and
research. If a keyword is popular and relevant to your site, we
will
select
that keyword, even if that keyword is very competitive. To ensure
your
success, we only select multiple word keywords - not single keywords.
After determining your most important keywords, we will work with
you
on
writing your page titles and description. Page titles are very
important to
obtain top search engine ranking.
The site description is used by some search engines to list the
description
of your Web site. Click here for tips on how to write your description.
