Articles - Google Update : "Google Dance"
Once in a month Google calculates the page rank
of each page and changes the serp (search enigne result pages) for all
keywords.
The Google Dance is called the time between the start and the end of an
update. Normally the Google Dance took about 4 days.
The best time to put new pages online is during the Google-Dance. If you
let too much time lapse between the completion of the update, and the
publication of new content, you may reduce the amount of new content that
will be included in the next update.
15th
November 2003 would probably go down in search engine history as an
important milestone. It is the day Google implemented sweeping updates in
its algorithm, (nicknamed - Google ‘Florida’ algo update), which threw
several thousand high-ranking sites off their ranks. The entire SEO
community is exhibiting unprecedented nervousness, even rage. While the
feelings are mixed in various camps, one thing is certain that Google has
ruffled quite many feathers. Although Google usually updates its algorithm
every alternate month or so (with minor updates even monthly), the
magnitude of changes this time was more than what webmasters and SEO
community expected. The new changes have off-listed several thousand
high-profile commercial sites that enjoyed a continued ranking.
Lastly, we continue to note the high value of anchor text (text used to
phrase a link). A tight focus on our target keyword phrases when links are
directed to a page in the StepForth domain helps support strong rankings
under those phrases.
